Cool spot with a hot tub jacuzzi in the room… for the price, decent! Something to note and hopefully fix….the curtains are not traditional black out curtains. They are wooden shutters that do not close all the way leaking light - and have visibility..- there is nothing additional to create privacy / darkness and to me blocking out light from the parking lot is a must at a hotel..
Extremely clean, which is always my priority. A little dated, but I wasn't looking for luxury. Staff was friendly. Only a few minutes drive from major attractions like Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. Less than 15 minutes to Point Lobos.
Mixed bag. There was initially problems with the room we reserved through Priceline. We called to confirm and was told we were given a much smaller room than we had reserved. Contacted the front desk and were told there was nothing they could do. Priceline contacted them and same message. Took a couple days to get in contact with the manager who then quickly responded and corrected the issue. We usually book direct with the hotel websites, but the price difference on Priceline was substantially cheaper. The room was very nice and large. Room was clean and had updated appliances, floors, etc. TV was somewhat old but worked fine. Bed was very firm but comfortable. Front desk was helpful for extra blankets and problems with phone not working. While there, housekeeping ended up throwing away a paper bag that we had set down next to the garbage can for some reason. In the bag was one of our favorite games, as well as 2 nice insulated steel cups. When we returned after an outing it was completely gone. Assuming housekeeping thought it was trash? Though it clearly wasn’t. We contacted front desk who had trouble communicating with housekeeping but were not able to find it which was disappointing. They DID find my daughter’s toy camera and made arrangements to return that to us which was nice.Location isn’t greatest but not terrible. Just kind of hard to get to and on a very busy street. There must be an airport nearby as you can hear planes fairly loudly occasionally. All in all, it was a mixed bag. It’s no frills, no pool etc. But as the rooms were nice and large and reasonable prices I believe we would likely stay again.
This was a last minute booking and we were very pleasantly surprised by how great the room was— not sure if it’s been newly renovated but it gives off that vibe. Super friendly owner and we’d 100% stay here again if we’re in the area in the future.
Owners are very nice and accommodating! Room is clean, location is on a busy street. Room has shutters but they do not keep the bright parking lot lights from shining through. Shades would be a good addition.
Be careful of false advertisement of hot tub it says it's online and then when you get there they said the hot tub has been closed for like 4 years. The location was in a nice area close to the beach a lot of stores. But the room is super outdated it was a whole bunch of like garbage outside I guess they might be renovating. But the room is super beat up and just a typical hole in the wall hotel. We didn't get any bed bugs or cooties so I guess that's fair. But when I asked if I could receive even a partial refund due to the false advertisement of the hot tub which is the reason why I went there they denied it so clearly not decent people would not recommend unless you have nowhere else to go. Place needs a good cleaning
We stayed one night to attend a wedding, and had no complaints. The room was super clean, and although it wasn't ready when we got there because they were short staffed, they had it ready in short order. It would have helped to call before we got there. They catered to divers in the past, at least, but a sauna was not in use when we were there.
It is being remodeled because you can see it happening, but I think only the flooring had been updated in my room. Wear and tear for sure, but overall, nice accommodation, clean, quiet, and everything worked. The guide in the room has aquarium prices for 2012, so you know that hasn't been updated. Close to PCH so easy to go anywhere, and nice neighborhood to go for a walk with or without my dog. For the price it was a very good value.
EV charging included in parking fee - what a relief! Hotel doesn’t look grand on the outside but stacks up against Portola and other, newer hotels inside. Recommend!
Emily at the front desk, upon check in was outstanding. Helpful in getting two separate bookings into one, so rooms did not have to be switched during my 5 night stay. She gave out a list of recommendations of restaurants, recognized it was my birthday and had cake and sparkling water sent to the room as a surprise. I've never experienced the level of service she gave upon check in!
The only reason I stay here is because my company pays for it and I get points. The room quality is very so,so. The food at the dining room is an outrage. I don't eat here even though I get free breakfast. I'll pay $20 extra to go up the street to eat something that I can actually digest. The pool and gym area is not very well maintained. Not the worst Marriott, but far from being a good Marriott. I usually stay here several days a month. But I'm looking for another place in Monterey to call "home away from home".
Great location in Monterey. Very easy drive to Carmel where we spent most of the time. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance. Easy wall to the wharf. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The parking attendants were very helpful and courteous. Had dinner in the restaurant. Best clam chowder in a bread bowl. Excellent service.
We were in town for a concert. Loved the location of this Marriott. Steps away from restaurants and activities. Our Room was good - small bathroom...great, quality, bed,Quiet.. staff was v pleasant. Would return in a heartbeat.
The BEST Marriott in California!! Spent 3 days here and it was an absolute dream!!! I enjoyed every minute of it from the moment I arrived I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. The positive energy from the staff made my trip even more enjoyable. I’ve never had that treatment anywhere else. The rooms were super clean and fit for a king and queen! The views were spectacular! This is what I call a true dream vacation. Thank you Monterey Marriott!! ??I highly recommend this hotel. ??Treat yourself.Six stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
